The diamond is a girl's best friend! You have heard it said a million times.
This is because of a variety of reasons.
1. It has flashes of all colors emanating from it because every ray of light that enters it breaks up into the primary colors (seen in the rainbow)because of the facets that are made in the diamond by the diamond-cutter or lapidary. They are all reflected out of the stone.
2. A diamond is simply brilliant. If well cut, there is no other stone to compare with its brilliance. This is because the facets in the stone reflects and refracts every ray of light that enters it. Its refractive index is excellent too and this adds to this effect.
3. The diamond is the hardest stone known to man. It easily scratches all other material without being scratched itself! So you will never see scratches in a diamond!
4. Because of its hardness, it can be polished to the highest degree. So a diamond remains polished all the time.
All this goes to say that it stands to reason that everybody loves to own diamonds. They will want to wear it too or display it. Here is where jewelry comes in.
Women love to use diamonds in jewelry (spelled jewellery in Great Britain) and men in their wrist watches. This is why many a woman expects to be given a diamond ring for her engagement and wedding. They love to wear diamond necklaces and diamond bracelets and the like.
The question is, can you afford diamond jewelry?
You will be surprised if I tell you the fact that there are acceptably good diamonds available for prices that you can afford. Dealers are slow to show you such diamonds since they want to sell more expensive diamonds and make money. (This is understandable.) So you need to know that, armed with persistence and knowledge you can save tone of money when you shop for diamonds. Ask people who are willing to give you advice. Read about it. Have some patience and you will get what you want.
